Trick or Treat at the Alcott Arts Center, Volunteers Needed

From our friends at the Alcott Arts Center in Kansas City, Kansas:

Alcott Arts Center CrestEvery year the Alcott Arts Center puts on an event for Haloween. We structure our event to one that speaks more to what the Alcott Arts Center does well, and that’s theatre. Under the supervision of Executive Director Chris Green and the Alcott Board, we recruit volunteers to select a character, don costumes, and “man” a scene to entertain children on the South Campus Parking Lot.

We can’t do this alone. It takes a dedicated Community of great people who step forward and donate time, candy, and money to the cause. We are blessed EVERY YEAR to have several volunteers STEP FORWARD to help bring their vision of the event to fruition.

We see more than four hundred children throughout the evening and are treated to a variety of creative costumes. It is always great to see such a good turnout, but we can’t do it without your help.

We’re looking for Corporate, Group, or Individual Sponsorships, Individual Volunteers, Cand/Goodie Donations, and Volunteers to bag candy (usually students who need Community Service Hours) or help with building sets for the theme we have selected.

Our theme this year is “American Horror Sory Side Show Freaks.” If you are feeling adventurous, you ca volunteer to dress up in costume and act out a scene for the patrons.

It is very heartwarming to be at the candy giving station and hear “please and thank you” before they even think of saying Trick or Treat. What incredible youngsters! Do you want to help make a kids day, then help us in any way you can. No contribution is too small!

We want to make a whole of kids happier at a time when so many have so little to be happy about. Thank you for that and for looking to the positive side of life through generosity.
