February is American Heart Month and is something that should be of interest to all of us as heart disease is the number one killer of women in the United States and often manifests itself in far different symptoms than we typically associate with a heart attack. Please consider wearing red in honor of heart health to our February meeting.
Our February 14 meeting will be held at Providence Medical Center in the Keenan Education Center - on the first floor - Auditorium C. There is seating for approximately 25-30 so be sure and make your reservations right now using this link.
The speakers will be Venkat R. Pasnoori, M.D., MPH, FACC who will speak on Peripheral Artery Disease. Dr. Pasnoori has a special interest in women's cardiovascular health. Providence Medical Staff will be on-hand after the program to conduct a simple, free Peripheral Artery Disease screen for anyone interested.
Also in attendance will be Mistee Allen, MD, a family Medicine Physician with Providence Medical Group, Family Medical Group. She will speak for about 5-10 minutes will be available for questions pertaining to women and heart health as well at the presentation. [Dr. Allen is expecting later in February, so if she does deliver prior to 2-14, Dr. Ann Kurtz, from our Providence Medical Group Bonner Springs location will serve as back up.]
