2017 WyCo Sheriff's Citizens Police Academy
“Want to learn what the Sheriff’s Office does for You!” Says Wyandotte County Sheriff Don Ash!
Citizens Academy is a free, exciting, six-week program that touches upon virtually every facet of the Wyandotte County Sheriff’s Office. Sessions will be held on Tuesday nights from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM, September 12 through October 17 at the Sheriff’s Office located at 710 N. 7th Street Kansas City Kansas. Food and other refreshments will be provided at each session.
Participants will have the chance to visit and speak with nearly every Division Commander to include the Sheriff. Each session will include live demonstrations, a question and answer portion, and educational discussions to give participants a better understanding of the Sheriff’s Office.
Sessions will take place only on Tuesdays from 6:00 to 9:00 PM each week. 2017 Citizens Academy Schedule:
- September 12 – Welcome and Orientation, Staff and Organization, History of WY.CO S.O.
- September 19 – Operations Division at the lake
- September 26– Support Division
- October 3 – Adult Detention, Juvenile
- October 10 – Round Table discussion
- October 17 – Closing Remarks and Graduation
All participants must be at least 18 years of age and currently be a resident or business owner in Wyandotte County. The deadline to register is Friday, September 8.
