KCKPD's Spring 2018 Citizens Academy

The Kansas City Kansas Police Department Training Academy is now accepting applications for the Spring Citizens Police Academy, (class # 42), which begins Monday, March 5, 2018, and continues through Wednesday, April 25, 2018. The Citizens Police Academy classes are held twice a week (usually Monday and Wednesday evenings), from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm. The participants of the Citizens Academy receive lectures and training that our police officers have received and they are instructed by the men and women who work in their respective fields such as Crime Scene Investigations, SWAT Unit, Bomb Squad, Police Gun Range and much more. By graduation, the citizens will leave with a better understanding of police operations and the organization. Training topics and dates may change. The schedule may include a couple of Saturday mornings. Details will be discussed during class.

The minimum age is 18 years old. The Citizens Police Academy is free for residents, business owners or stakeholders of KCK/WYCO. All interested individuals must pass a criminal history background check.  The Citizens Police Academy is held at the KCKPD Police Training Academy, 7340 State Avenue (on the KCKCC campus).  Please Contact Officer Barajas at the KCKPD Training Academy by calling (913) 596-2059, emailing him at Wbarajas@kckpd.org or, visiting the Police Academy for an application.
