From Chuck - Thank You & Welcoming the New Director
Good day to you. Welcome to this transitional, February edition of our newsletter.
I communicated I would be leaving Downtown Shareholders of Kansas City, Kansas, Inc. earlier in this space. A search for a new executive director began then, and I am pleased to announce the search has concluded. Please meet your new executive director via the press release below.
It has been a privilege, honor, and joy to work with the DTSKCK Board, the Self-Supported Municipal Improvement District Board, businesses, organizations, residents, elected officials, government staff, and funders these nearly 4 years. Thank you for your friendship toward this organization as well as embracing me. We have accomplished good things together for the Downtown community and Wyandotte County as a whole. Continue to expend the energy and practice the inclusiveness necessary for all such work. I expect to hear and read of wonderful rooms being built within the strong framework we have constructed. I will be around from time to time, having been asked to assist with the transition to the new ED.
My new contact information is email@example.com; (913) 620-7480 continues as my cell number as it is not owned by DTSKCK. Please make those change in your contacts.
So, without further delay, please meet Jason Norbury, the new Executive Director of the Downtown Shareholders:
The Downtown Shareholders of Kansas City, Kansas (DTSKCK) have appointed Jason Norbury to the position of Executive Director, effective February 19, 2018.
“Jason’s response when offered the position was an acceptance with a not so quiet enthusiasm to get moving,” said Wil Anderson, President of the Board of Directors for the Downtown Shareholders. Norbury, who lives in Lee’s Summit, Missouri, has operated the Law Office of Jason Norbury, P.C. since 2004. Jason has served in multiple roles in Downtown Lee’s Summit, including several years on the Board of Downtown Lee’s Summit Main Street, Inc., a Great American Main Street Award-winning downtown revitalization organization.
“Jason, an Attorney, comes to our organization with a great background to provide a leadership role for DTSKCK into the next five-plus years. His background includes operating as a small business owner, a significant amount of time associated with the improvement of downtown Lee’s Summit through various non-profits as well as serving on the local Planning Commission,” said Anderson.
Norbury also served as the initial Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Downtown Lee’s Summit Community Improvement District and has been a member of Lee’s Summit’s Planning Commission since 2010, most recently serving as Chair.
“Kansas City, Kansas is a unique, diverse and exciting place because of its people, and I am honored to be given the opportunity to work with such a dedicated group of business owners, residents, and volunteers to continue the growth and improvement of such a vital part of the city, county, and region,” said Norbury, Executive Director of DTSKCK.
Join us in welcoming Jason to Downtown Kansas City, Kansas!
