Downtown Spotlight from Jason - April 17, 2018

Hello everyone! Spring has (at least occasionally) sprung, the grass is getting green, the trees and beginning to bloom, pollen rises, and activity seems to be “springing” up all around us. Much like new plants, there’s lots of things starting to happen, but much of the activity is “underground,” so it feels a bit quiet and steady on the outside (not that steady is a bad thing).

As I am sure all of you have heard, The University of Kansas Health System has announced their purchase of the old EPA building at 5th and Minnesota, and are gearing up their investment. However, big construction hasn’t started yet, and they won’t be open until mid-2019, so it looks quieter from the outside than it is. Kaw Point Meadery continues to progress towards opening this summer, but their progress is mostly inside - either their building or various government offices.

So while we may not see lots of activity now, as it continues to get warmer, we’ll see more and more happening outside, including our first Food Truck Friday in May. You might even catch me outside as well. Please stop me and say hello.
