Community Meeting for Zoning Code Rewrite

The Unified Government of Wyandotte County-Kansas City, Kansas (UG) invites you to attend the first public meetings for the Zoning Code Rewrite.

The Zoning Code helps guide land development. Meeting exhibits will describe the current ordinance as well as the process and schedule for developing a new version. Representatives from UG and the consultant team will be there to answer questions and discuss potential improvements and issues with you. The team will also give two, identical presentations at each meeting.  Meeting one is June 20 from 11:30-1:00 PM at the Salvation Army Harbor Light Village, and meeting two is June 20 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Memorial Hall.

The current Zoning Code is one of the keys to implementing the 2008 City-wide Master Plan and area plans. The UG Urban Planning and Land Use Department has amended it several times to accommodate new development projects, signage regulations, and other needed changes. During the Zoning Code Rewrite, we hope to uncover ways to streamline the development review process, make it easier to accommodate new businesses, continuing preserving and enhancing neighborhoods, and develop spaces that community members enjoy for years to come.
