Safe Routes To Schools Update
From our friends at Bike Walk KC:
Summer break is officially HERE! So look out for more kids walking and biking our neighborhoods! It’s important to take extra precaution and slow down. Many have already spent their spring walking together along their Walking School Bus (WSB) route.
Caruthers, Grant, Frank Rushton, Parker, New Chelsea, and William Allen White all continued their existing Walking School Buses this spring. From the Turner USD 202 District, Midland Trail continued and Oak Grove kicked off their first Walking School Bus, which grew quickly from 10 kids on the first week to 25 by the end!
Sidewalk construction will continue around Welborn and T.A. Edison, while William Allen White will begin construction on the very first sidewalks in the surrounding neighborhood in the upcoming months. This effort is to help educate and empower students to walk and feel safe in their own neighborhoods next school year.
