Kansas City, Kansas Police Department's Fall Citizens' Police Academy

The Kansas City, Kansas Police Department's Fall Citizens' Police Academy is now accepting applications for the Fall 2018 class, (class #43), beginning Wednesday, September 5, 2018, and ending Monday, October 22, 2018. The Citizens' Police Academy classes are held primarily two evenings a week, Mondays and Wednesdays, from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm, with a few additional classes on Saturday mornings.

The Citizens' Police Academy is an opportunity for citizens to lean11nore about the KCKPD, the different units within the police department and the responsibilities of the police officers. It is a seven-week program. The classes are structured by the men and women who work in their respective fields such as Crime Scene Investigations, SWAT Unit, Bomb Squad, Co1nrnuniCommunications/ Dispatch, Police Gun Range and much more. By graduation time, the citizens will leave with a better understanding of the police organization and operations.

The Citizens' Police Academy is free to attend. The minimum age is 18 years old. The Citizens' Police Academy is held at the KCKPD Police Training Academy, which is located on the campus of Kansas City, Kansas Community College.
