Downtown Spotlight from Jason - April 2, 2019

As (hopefully) spring approaches, we are starting to get a little bit more sun in our lives. The sun provides us the heat and light that make all our lives possible. I look forward to getting a lot more “vitamin sunshine” in my life, and getting to walk around downtown more as the weather improves.

Our friends and great Downtown Shareholders supporters at the BPU are leading the way in using the sun to generate power in KCK. They are working with commercial customers to use solar to power their businesses, and also have a program for residential customers.

To explain their Community Solar Farm Program, the BPU is hosting a FREE Community Solar Seminar on Tuesday, April 16th, 2019. It will be held at the West Wyandotte Public Library, 1737 N. 82nd Street (you know it must be good if I am promoting an event outside the downtown). There are two sessions, one from 4 – 5:30 pm, and one from 6 -7:30pm. You can call 913-573-9014 or email Patrice Townsend at to reserve your seat.

Solar power will be a big part of our energy future, and thanks again to the BPU for their support of Downtown, and this cool program.
