Blocktoberfest Showcases Safer Street Design in Downtown KCK

During the event, 6th Street was transformed between Ann Avenue and Tauromee Avenue into a complete street with landscaping, room for bicycles and pedestrians, and expanded public spaces. The purpose of the event was to demonstrate how narrower lanes improve traffic safety by encouraging slower speeds and providing dedicated space for pedestrians and bicycles.

Northeast Master Plan to be Considered by UG Commissioners

The Unified Government Board of Commissioners will consider the Northeast Area Master Plan for adoption during the November 29, 2018 meeting.  There will be a study session at 5:00 PM in the 5th Floor Conference Room in City Hall, and the plan will be considered during the Commission Meeting starting at 7:00 PM.

Northeast Master Plan Early Implementation

The Northeast Master Plan team has been working on securing funding to implement short-term and long-term goals of the plan. On the short-term side, the plan includes funding for early action projects. These projects are intended to be tangible improvements to the neighborhood that can be accomplished in the near term and generate momentum for larger and more long-term improvements. Historic Northeast Midtown Neighborhood Association (HNMA) and Turtle Hill Community Association have recently received additional funding through successful grant requests.
