DashKCK Race to Highlight Area, Boost Local Economy

dash kck routeDonnelly College will partner with Downtown Shareholders of Kansas City, Kan. to present DashKCK, a family friendly 5K run/walk, on Saturday, Sept. 12. "Downtown Shareholders is proud to team up with Donnelly College to host DashKCK," said Chuck Schlittler, Director of Downtown Shareolders of Kansas City, Kan. "This 5K run/walk is the perfect way to see firsthand the vibrant transformation that's happening throughout downtown KCK, including new businesses, streetscape improvements and building renovations."

The race will begin at 9:30 a.m. at the JFK Community Center next to Big 11 Lake Park. Participants will enjoy a 3.1-mile route appropriate for all skill levels around the Kansas City, Kan. park.

"Part of partnering is being good stewards of the resources we've been given," said Donnelly College Annual Fund Manager Craig Doty. "Working with Downtown Shareholders allows both groups to better serve the KCK community and reach a broader audience."

Registration costs just $8 per person or $25 for a group of four or more; those interested can sign up online now or in person the morning of the event. Participants will receive snacks and prizes after the race. Proceeds benefit Donnelly College and Downtown Shareholders of Kansas City, Kan.

"We're always trying to share our mission as widely as possible, and joining forces with a great organization like Downtown Shareholders allows us to do just that," said Doty.

After DashKCK concludes, racers are encouraged to stay for Library in the Park, presented by the Kansas City Kansas Public Library. There will be live entertainment, food, activities and more until 3 p.m.
