Effective Approaches to Couples Counseling
Overview:This workshop will review the core foundational precepts of three of the most effective approaches to couples counseling: the Gottman Method, Emotionally Focused Therapy and Imago Therapy. Participants will learn the philosophical underpinnings of Imago Therapy, as well as be exposed to the approach of Imago Therapist, which includes "The Imago Dialogue Process".
After attending this workshop, the participant will be able to:
- Differentiate theoretical foundation and core precepts of Gottman Method, Emotionally Focused Therapy and Imago Therapy.
- Identify Imago Therapist’s understanding of why couples fight and their approach to solving the problem.
- Recognize the tools and methods of Imago therapist in helping couples create a relaxed and joyful connection with each other, and also utilize their relationship for a catalyst for personal growth and healing.
Who Should Attend: This professional continuing education workshop is designed for social workers, psychologists, therapists, counselors and other mental health professionals, and healthcare workers.

Featured Speaker: Laura Aube, LPC, ATR-BC, Certified Imago Therapist is the owner of the Center for Creative Growth and Healing in Raymore, Missouri. Laura received her Masters Degree in Art Therapy in 1993 from Emporia State University. Her experience includes providing group, individual, and family therapy to adolescents in residential treatment, providing in-home therapy to children and families through hospice, and working with individuals, couples, and families in private practice. In 2007 she began to review theories to help couples, because she recognized the functioning of adult relationships is key to helping families and children. In 2012 she completed the Imago Certification Program through Imago Relationships International.
