The Future of Indian Springs in Kansas City, Kansas
From the Unified Government: All Wyandotte County residents who care about the future of the former Indian Springs are invited to attend a public forum to share their vision and express their opinions about plans for the site.
The public town hall meeting is scheduled for 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Tuesday, September 19th at the KCK Public Schools Central Office building, 2010 North 59th Street. Registration begins at 5:30 PM.
The forum will be modeled after the facilitated Listening Tours Mayor Mark Holland held last year. The purpose of the forum is simple: to hear the hopes and dreams citizens have for the 110-acre site at I-635 and State Avenue. Earlier plans to build a light industrial development on the site were opposed by many residents, so the Unified Government is going back to the drawing board. Citizen input will be critical in whatever new plan is developed.
The Unified Government is also creating an on-line survey for people to take part in the planning process.
In addition to the September 19 public forum, UG staff will host three meetings with community and neighborhood leader meetings later in September and October.
