International Day of the Girl

Hey, WyCo! Check out this exciting announcement from our friends at Young Women on the Move:

In 2011, as the result of the youth advocacy around the world, the United Nations declared October 11 the International Day of the Girl. It’s mission is “to help galvanize worldwide enthusiasm for goals to better girls’ lives, providing an opportunity for them to show leadership and reach their full potential.” It’s a day when activist groups come together under the same goal to highlight, discuss, and take action to advance rights and opportunities for girls everywhere.

Young Women on the Move continues support of this international movement to improve girls’ education, safety, health and economic opportunities on November 1 at our 4th Annual International Day of the Girl Summit.

Young Women on the Move’s conference will launch its 2017-2018 year long programming on Wednesday, November 1, 2017, at our 4th International Day of the Girl Summit in Kansas City, KS. On this day, over three hundred middle school and high school girls from KCK and neighboring communities will stand united for this distinctive daylong event and lend their voices to advocate for hope and healing at home, in their schools, communities, and world.

We invite you to partner with us and to kindly consider the opportunity to be a sponsor for the 2017 International Day of the Girl event. Your organization’s sponsorship will not only help underwrite this event but will also provide vital funds to support the ongoing work of Young Women on the Move, helping these girls develop to their full potential.
