Mobile Library Associate, KCKPL

Our friends with the Kansas City, Kansas Public Library seek qualified applicants for the position of Mobile Library Associate. Associate level position responsible for driving the bookmobile, assisting patrons in a friendly and professional manner, performing circulation/public service desk duties, computer troubleshooting and assisting the Librarian in the process of preparing and maintaining the collection and services while keeping the bookmobile neat, clean and inviting to the areas served.

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education/experience mix with the ability to work directly with the public in a friendly, helpful manner; handle multiple tasks quickly and accurately; have an above average proficiency with computers and available software for patron use; must have some public programming or training background to be able to participate in scheduled programming as assigned; ability to safely drive the mobile library in all weather conditions and establish and maintain effective working relationships with route/stop contacts.

Must have a good driving record and have or be able to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with required endorsements to drive the mobile library bus. Must have a bright and cheerful nature and the ability to interact with the public and staff in a courteous and professional manner at all times.

Physical attributes of standing, kneeling, walking and lifting up to 35 pounds as work activity, programming, set-up and daily activities may be required.  May require additional training and/or performance of duties outside normal work hours as assigned/required.

Salary based on 2017/2018 classification/salary range.  Non-exempt status.
