Good day. Welcome to this August edition of our newsletter. Please note the opportunities within and on our Community Calendar. DTSKCK invites you to either run or walk in the Dash KCK 5K run/walk on September 9. The event is at the JFK center in Downtown off of Washington Blvd. Registration is now open online and is free for students including on race day. Please register here. Others registering online by August 28 are $10 or $15 day of. Registration by August 28 will ensure you receive a participatory t-shirt and medal. The top 3 male and female finishers will each receive awards.
Registration opens day-of at 7:30 with the event at 8:30. Awards will be announced around 10 at Library in the Park. We invite you to stay and learn about library resources and enjoy free tacos and ice cream. Dash KCK again gladly collaborates with the Library and their event.
Concerning economic development and housing the DTSKCK EcoDevo and Housing Committee begins dialogue September 12 on tasks, if any, the group needs to undertake besides advocacy. Opportunities exist. What might DTSKCK do regarding those opportunities? We appreciate the leadership of Jim Schraeder, committee chair, and board vice-chair, plus Wil Anderson, board chair. Watch this space for further information.
The DTSKCK Outreach Committee meets this Thursday at the new convenience store Downtown at 720 Minnesota. Chips & Coins is owned and operated by Mike Benitez and Dorota Lopez of MM Companies LLC. Each day a home-made lunch is available from family recipes. The committee meets this Thursday at 11:30.
Finally, we are pleased to announce that Tom Lally has agreed to do some contracting work with DTSKCK. Tom is well known for his work in the KC area and we could not be happier that he has agreed to help us.
