Good day. We hope this end of July edition finds you and yours able to cool off and stay well. Downtown Shareholders of Kansas City, KS was recently nominated for a Thrive Award. This celebration of achievements in community development is a Local Initiative Support Corporation, KC, MO effort. A brief description of this inaugural event follows, taken from the LISC website. Thrive: Celebrating Kansas City's Achievements in Community Development. Thrive is Kansas City’s premiere celebration of excellence in local community development efforts. Six projects and organizations will be honored and presented awards. As a guest at this event, you will have the opportunity to experience locally-sourced food and entertainment. You are also invited to join us September 9 this year for another Dash KCK. A link will soon be available for registration. This timed, family-friendly event welcomes both competitive runners as well as mom, dad, and children. The walk/run begins and ends at Big 11 Lake. In conjunction with Library in the Park, participants will once again be able to learn about library services as well as those offered by other community partners. Oh, and did I mention another taco contest featuring the best in the region?

Finally, we are very pleased to announce the Latino Arts Festival returns to Downtown Kansas City, KS April 28 of 2018. Planning is underway to welcome additional artists, food vendors, and of course low riders. Watch this space and the Like LAF Facebook page for additional details.
