Newsletter Feature from Chuck - May 16, 2017
Good day. I will be brief in this issue, asking you to access our calendar for events and the link to the Wall Street Journal article on storage containers being repurposed. DTSKCK invites you to join us and others June 3 for the Latino Art Festival and parade. The parade, from 4th to 12th on Minnesota Avenue, begins at noon featuring an honor guard, band, and 40 lowrider vehicles. The Festival begins at 1 PM and ends at 6:30. It will occur in the 700 block of Minnesota Ave.
During the festival, Latino art will be shown at the KCK Chamber as lowrider vehicles, a hopping contest, our own KCK Fire Department, a bounce house, and vendors are available in the 700 block of Minnesota. There is no charge to attend. More information in this space and via social media as the event approaches.
Please also join us on May 19 for a presentation by the Kansas City Kansas Police Department about Surviving and Active Shooter Incident in the workplace. To learn more about this, click here.
DTSKCK is very proud to announce an award from Local Initiative Support Corporation, KC MO, or LISC. An award of over $60K will allow DTSKCK to have a permanent location for Pop-Up business efforts. Pop-Ups allow an entrepreneur to test the viability of a product, service, and location. Plans are underway to design, place, and program a facility using metal containers. Please see the following Wall Street Journal link to see examples of how such containers are magically transformed into all kinds of projects.
Festivals bring folks to Downtown. Pop-Ups bring potential businesses to Downtown, bringing people to Downtown. Yes, you guessed it: DTSKCK is all about bringing more businesses and more people to Downtown. Come be with us. Come be part of the great work being done by lots of people. Come see why we say Downtown KCK is everyone’s Downtown.
