Southbound I-35 at 18th Street Expressway Interchange, Periodic Closures

INTERSTATE SHOULDER & LOCAL STREET LANE PERIODIC CLOSURES: On Monday, January 9, a project will begin to surface repair and wing wall replacement on a reinforced culvert box located under southbound I-35 just north of 18th Street Expressway interchange (Wyandotte County). Work will take place off the shoulder on southbound I-35 and underneath the highway north of Roe Lane. Project working hours: Daily Monday through Friday during daylight hours. An advance message board will alert drivers on southbound I-35 to any planned lane or shoulder closures Traffic impacts will primarily affect Roe Lane with trucks entering and leaving the project work site. No regular lane or shoulder closures are expected on I-35 except for periodic shoulder closures on southbound I-35 during off-peak times.

The Kansas Department of Transportation urges all motorists to be alert, take it slow, obey the warning signs, and “Give ‘Em a Brake!” when approaching and driving through the project work zone.

RA Knapp Construction Inc. (Kansas City, KS) is the primary contractor on this repair project with a total contract cost of $313,058. The scheduled completion date for the project is mid-April 2017, weather permitting.
