A Taste of Motivational Interviewing, MHAH
Overview: This workshop will introduce helping professionals to the spirit and techniques of Motivational Interviewing that can be extremely useful when working with people that are struggling to make a change. This conversation style offers a different approach to guiding clients/patients through the process of change. Objectives: After attending this workshop the participant will be able to
- Describe the “spirit” and 4 processes of Motivational Interviewing (MI).
- Demonstrate and practice the interpersonal style for evoking intrinsic motivation.
- Identify areas of practice that actually make change less likely to happen for clients/patients.
Who Should Attend: This continuing education workshop is designed for case managers, social workers, psychologists, therapists, counselors, nurses and healthcare workers. Those that work in helping professions are welcome to attend.
