Cultural Competency Workshop

As demographics change in communities across the country, the importance of staff training to enhance patient-centered care and improve the delivery of culturally appropriate health and social services is undeniable.
The overall objective of this workshop is to build culturally competent systems of care by recognizing the diversity of cultures and the different ways to health and to serve as a bridge between communities and heath care institutions to advanced access to quality health care that is culturally and linguistically appropriate.
Participants will build awareness, knowledge, and skills through a variety of teaching methods including direct instruction, role playing, case studies, facilitated group discussions, and technology media.
- Understand the concepts of diversity & culture
- Define the concept of cultural competency and its relevance to health care
- Develop an awareness of the impact of culture on human dynamics
- Develop practical applications of the tools of cultural competency
- Recognize the importance and relevance of culturally and linguistically appropriate health care
- Identify best practices to develop a train the trainer program in organizations

is anything that gets your body moving. According to the 2008 Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans, you need to do two types of physical activity each week to improve your health-aerobic and muscle-strengthening.
Adults need at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity aerobic activity every week, and children should get at least 60 minutes of physical activity every day.
