La Placita Central Avenue Market

Saturday May, 21 | 11:00AM - 3:00PM

laplacitaheaderGraduate students from the KU School of Architecture conducted a survey of the residents of the Central Avenue area during the annual Central Avenue Parade in 2013. Members of the community were asked about what they liked and did not like about the Central Avenue area. Unsurprising, home and church were some of the most liked areas. However, what came as a shock was that Bethany Park earned the sad title of “the least liked” place in the neighborhood! It’s high time that something is done to change Bethany Park into a place that inspires community. Bethany Park is at the heart of the Central Avenue corridor. Just as our bodies are only as healthy as our heart is, our community can prosper with a healthy Bethany Park. The hard working people of our community need a place to mingle with friends and family and a place to meet new people. The ups and downs of working life make it difficult to enjoy down time every now and then. We are too proud of a community to let this opportunity slip away. Our community deserves a better place to gather. Let’s make this happen.

La Placita Central Avenue MarketWe at CABA have created a program of events we believe can be the start of reinvigorating Bethany Park and can be enjoyed by our community. We already have a well-recognized Central Avenue Parade. We truly believe we have an opportunity to expand on the goodness of the parade and take the opportunity to provide a place of enjoyment once a month, weather permitting. CABA is looking to take the first steps by kicking off a monthly program of events called La Placita. La Placita will be centered upon Bethany Park and will feature vendors, entertainment, and the opportunity for members of the community to connect. The potential for the success of La Placita is great. We believe the energy generated during the monthly La Placita events will inspire even greater events.

La Placita is our way to reach our Community, and we want you to be a part of it! If you or your organization is interested in helping and participating, contact CABA immediately. We need your help in all ways possible!
