banners

The Kansas City, Kansas Downtown Improvement District (or SSMID) is replacing 125 banners on light poles throughout Downtown with the assistance of the Kansas City Board of Public Utilities. The theme of the new banners is a “Celebration of the Cultural Diversity of Downtown KCK.” While other cities have separate and distinct cultural districts, KCK is unique in that our Downtown is a collection of diverse businesses and community organizations all working side-by-side. The diversity of our community is a big part of what makes our Downtown special and vibrant.

The new banners feature photographs of individuals who are making meaningful contributions to Downtown KCK, and the banners highlight their roots in Africa, Asia, Latin America, Native America, and Europe:

Selections were made by the Downtown Improvement District Advisory Board. The criteria for selection are:

  • Owning or operating a business or non-profit agency in Downtown KCK, and
  • Making a meaningful contribution to the vibrancy of Downtown KCK, and
  • Representing a segment of the cultural mix of Downtown KCK.

As new banners continue to go up, keep your eyes on DTSKCK’s FacebookNewsletter, and Twitter for updates.

Thank you for your continued commitment to #OurKCK!
